HKSS Internal Basketball Tournament
Hong Kong Student Society (HKSS) Internal Basketball Tournament is an opportunity for all of you to come together and enjoy a day of friendly competition or just socialize over the course of the tournament and cheer on your favorite basketball team.

Team game: 3 on 3 (optional: w/ max 2 substitutes)
Solo games: 2-point shootout
3-point shootout
Fee:
Team game: $5 per person for HKSS members
$7 per person for non HKSS members
Solo games: $5 per participant per shootout
Competition System:
Single knock-out system
Prize and recognitions:
Champion: A golden championship trophy or medals + admission to External Basketball Tournament*.
1st runner up: A silver championship trophy or medals + admission to External Basketball Tournament*.
2nd runner up: A bronze championship trophy or medals.
*The Champion team and the 1st runner up team will form a five-member team representing UCLA HKSS to participate in the Joint-U Basketball Tournament and play against the winners from UCI, UCSD, USC, Cal Poly Pomona, Pepperdine and potentially other schools in Socal!
How do you apply?
You will be able to register at the Hong Kong Student Society Website www.hkbruins.org by filling the application form uploaded. For now, feel free to look for potential partners to form your team. This tournie is based on a co-ed system where girls and boys will compete with one another equally.

HKSS Internal Singing Contest
Karaoke has been a popular form of entertainment in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Student Society (HKSS) is going to host the annual Internal Singing Contest at the Ackerman Grand Ballroom on Feburary 11, 2009.
There's NO admission fee so everyone is welcomed to support your friends. You can sing your favorite Cantonese, Mandarin, as well as English songs. The winner will represent HKSS to compete with other talents from other colleges in the External Singing Contest during the Spring quarter.
This event has always been one of the most popular event organized by the HKSS, come and check out the Hong Kong Pop culture!
Please download the application on the link below, and send it back to hkssbruins@gmail.com . Attach 3 KTVs at least in RMVB or MPEG format (preferrably with voice faded and image) along with the application.
Competition Format will be announced during the audition.
Deadline for application is January 25, 2009 (Sunday).
Audition will be held on January 27, 2009 (Tuesday).
Application Fee
$15 per party for members.
$20 per party for non-members.
All application fees will be used for logistical expenses and/or prize expenditures.

Champion---$200 cash prize+ an Acrylic Trophy
2nd place---$100 cash prize + an Acrylic Trophy
3nd place---$50 cash prize + an Acrylic Trophy
Best Duet---$50 Energy Karaoke Certificate
Best Stage Presence---$50 Energy Karaoke Certificate
Audition
All participants MUST attend the audition in order to join the singing contest.

HKSS has prepared for you guys the bomb diggity annual ski/snowboard trip in Winter 2009!!!
Just a two-hour drive from UCLA, Big Bear Lake is a great ski resort that provides you with all the fun and adventurous excitement! Other than riding lifts to the top of the mountains looking at magnificent scenaries, we are also going to have a lot of fun activities for our cabin party!
